A grating request for quotation should give the supplier the load requirements or clearly identify them as unresolved. Descriptions such as heavy duty or suitable for a platform are not a complete basis for selecting the panel section.
Attach a concise design-input schedule
- Application and the people, equipment or traffic using the area.
- Support layout, bearing direction and clear span.
- Required load cases, magnitudes and units supplied by the project team.
- Relevant concentrated-load or wheel-contact information.
- Required deflection or other acceptance criteria.
- Material, surface and finish requirements.
- Cut-outs, special supports and details needing review.
Distinguish confirmed requirements from assumptions
Mark each input as confirmed, provisional or awaiting clarification. If the enquiry is for budget pricing, ask the supplier to state the assumptions used and identify what must be resolved before production. Do not enter a guessed design load simply to complete an enquiry form.
Request the evidence with the offer
Ask the supplier to identify the proposed bar section and the load-table or calculation reference used for the stated conditions. Require proposed alternatives and exceptions to be listed separately. This makes the offer easier to review and prevents a commercial comparison from concealing different technical scopes.
Carry the accepted inputs into the order
Reference the approved drawing revision and technical clarification record in the order package. Confirm how changes to supports, loads or panel geometry will be reviewed before fabrication. Keep the price validity and delivery programme separate from the technical approval.
