Send your drawings or panel schedule with the quantity, material, finish and delivery destination. If the design is still being developed, identify the missing details and request a budget estimate. A preliminary price should not be treated as approval to manufacture.
For a replacement panel, include photographs of the opening and supports as well as measured dimensions. A photograph alone does not establish the bearing bar size or load capacity.
Information to include in your request
| Application and exposure | Describe the platform, walkway, stair tread or trench cover, who or what will use it, and exposure to weather, wash-down or chemicals. Name the grating construction if specified, such as welded or press-locked grating. |

Compare quotations on the same scope
Compare the bar dimensions, spacing, material grade, finish and fabrication before comparing the price per square metre. Check the quoted area or weight basis, quantity and drawing revision. A lighter panel or a quote excluding banding and fixings is a different offer.
Request an explicit list of inclusions and exclusions: cutting, edge treatment, clips, inspection documents, packing, freight and any destination charges. Check currency, quotation validity and delivery terms. Keep alternative materials or construction methods on separate quote lines so a substitution is visible.
From budget estimate to production approval
- Initial enquiry: send the information available and mark provisional dimensions, quantities and design assumptions.
- Technical clarification: resolve the bearing direction, support span, load criteria, opening dimensions and fabrication details. Record any proposed changes to the specification.
- Order review: agree the priced scope, documents, packing, shipping basis and programme.
- Production release: confirm the approved drawing revision, panel schedule, finish and marks in writing. A budget sketch should not silently become the fabrication drawing.

No. Compare the same bar size, spacing, material, finish, fabrication and accessories, then check packing, documents and delivery scope. Ask each supplier to identify exclusions and alternatives.
Can custom grating be quoted from a drawing?
Include cut-outs, notches, banding, toe plates, fixing details and tolerances on the drawing. Ask the supplier to confirm feasibility and show the accepted drawing revision in the quotation.
What information is needed for export packing?
Provide the destination, shipping basis, panel marks, bundle identification and any handling or packing restrictions. Confirm packing and document requirements before the order is released.
