Oil and gas steel grating should be specified by operating area, not assumed to be one standard panel throughout a facility. Process platforms, access routes, stairs and drainage covers can have different corrosion exposure, loads and slip-resistance needs.
Split the schedule by duty and exposure
Identify the service area, clear span, design load, deflection limit and bearing-bar direction for each panel group. This helps avoid over-specifying low-duty areas while keeping critical access routes and equipment platforms appropriately robust.
Use drawings to coordinate installation
Show support locations, penetrations, removable zones, edge conditions and installation sequence. Panel marks and packing order help the site team install the right pieces during a shutdown or phased construction program.
