Platform grating fixings connect the selected panels to the actual supporting structure. Define that interface before ordering accessories; the same panel layout can create different fixing and access requirements on different supports.
Show the support interface
Provide the support shape and the relevant dimensions with the panel drawing. Identify the panel edge, bearing direction and any obstruction below the platform. Ask the responsible reviewer to approve the fixing arrangement and any requirements for movement, restraint or removal.
Check whether installation and later access are possible
Show where an installer can reach each fixing and where equipment or services will restrict access after commissioning. If a panel must be removable, confirm how the approved fixing can be released and reinstated. Do not select a clip from its appearance alone.
Agree the supply and installation responsibilities
- Identify the fixing type and approved reference.
- State the quantity and locations required by the approved design.
- List the components supplied with the grating and those supplied by others.
- Identify the applicable installation instructions and inspection requirements.
- Record responsibility for any approved site work and finish repair.
Inspect the completed arrangement
Use the approved detail and manufacturer instructions for acceptance. Record missing components, inaccessible positions or departures from the drawing by panel mark. Do not invent a universal tightening value or fixing spacing when the selected system and design requirements have not been confirmed.
Keep a maintenance record
Document the fixing references and access requirements so replacement parts can be identified later. If panels are removed during maintenance, record reinstatement using the site’s approved procedure. See grating clips and fasteners and the platform panel-layout guide.
