A request for serrated steel grating should identify the required surface and the project criteria used to accept it. The words anti-slip do not define a test method, a surface geometry or the actual conditions of use.
Describe the walking environment
Record whether the area may be wet or contaminated and describe the footwear, traffic and cleaning conditions considered by the project team. Identify any required slip-performance criterion and supporting evidence instead of assuming serrations guarantee performance in every environment.
Specify the delivered surface
- Plain or serrated bearing bars, with the selected product reference.
- Material and finish, written separately.
- Opening arrangement and required top-face orientation.
- Any agreed sample or surface inspection reference.
- The project acceptance requirements and documents.
Check the complete panel selection
Confirm that the performance submission represents the proposed serrated construction. The surface description does not replace the bar dimensions, supports, loading and deflection criteria required for the panel design.
Record accepted alternatives
If a supplier proposes a different surface or finish, ask how it will be assessed against the same project requirement. Record the approved product reference so the installer and receiving inspector can identify what was ordered.
