Platform panelisation determines where the joints, access panels and special cuts occur. Coordinate it with the equipment and support layout before treating the platform as a simple total area of grating.
Start with the fixed interfaces
Show the supporting steel, equipment footprints, service penetrations and perimeter details on one coordinated layout. Identify which dimensions are final and which depend on equipment installation. Mark the required bearing bar direction for each panel arrangement.
Identify maintenance openings
Ask the equipment team which areas must remain accessible and whether a component needs removal through the floor. Distinguish a permanent cut-out from a removable panel. Record the agreed access envelope and the support and fixing detail needed around it.
Create an identifiable panel schedule
- Assign a unique mark to each panel type or location.
- List the finished dimensions and quantity.
- Show the datum for notches and penetrations.
- Identify perimeter treatment and interfaces with adjacent panels.
- Record any handling or installation constraint that affects panel size.
Review the consequences of special cuts
A penetration can interrupt the originally proposed bearing-bar arrangement. Refer the changed detail to the responsible designer instead of assuming the uncut panel selection remains valid. Keep the accepted opening and support arrangement on the fabrication revision.
Coordinate changes before delivery
When equipment locations move, identify the affected panel marks and confirm whether fabrication has started. Update the panel schedule and packing marks together. At installation, use the marks to place special panels correctly instead of altering them to fit an unexpected opening.
