Fixing hardware needs its own review when ordering stainless steel grating. Give the supplier the panel details and the support sections together, then ask for a drawing of the proposed attachment. A clip description in a quotation is difficult to assess without knowing where it fits and how the installer will reach it.
Begin with the approved 316 stainless steel grating layout. Mark the panels that must remain removable and identify any attachment requirements already set by the engineer. Send the proposed fixing details to the contractor responsible for the supporting structure, especially where another supplier controls that part of the work.
Information the fixing drawing should show
Ask the supplier to identify the clip assembly and list its components. The drawing should show the grating opening, bearing bar arrangement, support profile and position of the hardware. Request the proposed fastener material and finish in writing for the project’s compatibility review.
Show how the hardware attaches at each support condition. Corners, cut-outs and changes in support profile deserve a separate detail where the standard arrangement does not describe them. Ask the engineer to determine the required locations and quantities and to approve any alternative arrangement proposed by the supplier.
Check installation access before ordering
The installer should review access from above and below the panel. Locate nearby pipes, equipment and walls that affect the planned work. If the fixing proposal involves drilling or other work on the support, identify who approves and performs that work before it becomes part of the order.
Request the supplier’s installation instructions with the submittal. Refer questions about tightening, installation tools or inspection to those instructions and the project requirements. The purchasing team should record agreed requirements without inventing values to complete an empty field.
For comparison between proposals, list grating clips by assembly type and location. Keep a clear distinction between hardware included in the grating package and items supplied by the installer. Agree whether spare components are required and show them separately on the order.
Carry the details through to handover
Match the hardware packing list to the approved drawing and panel marks. Ask the site team to record missing parts, substitutions and installation changes against that revision. Give operations staff the final fixing details for panels they will remove during maintenance.
Close the record with the engineer’s approval and the installer’s confirmation of the arrangement used. A future replacement order should be able to identify the correct fixing assembly without relying on a loose clip kept in a store room.
