Trench grating handover should establish that the delivered panels match the approved layout and that the installation can be inspected and maintained as intended. Keep the delivery check separate from the final installed-condition review.
Check the delivery before distributing panels
Match panel marks, quantities and accessories to the packing list. Record visible damage and finish defects with photographs and bundle identification. Keep nonconforming items identifiable while the supplier and project team agree the next action.
Match each cover to its location
- Confirm the panel mark against the layout drawing.
- Check the specified bearing direction and support interfaces.
- Review the fit at channel corners, ends and changes in width.
- Verify that the intended top face and level match the detail.
- Check that the specified fixing components are present.
Record seating and restraint issues
Report a cover that does not seat as detailed, an unexpected level difference or a mismatch between the panel and frame. Do not use an improvised modification to conceal the problem. Refer the location and drawing revision to the responsible reviewer and record the accepted correction.
Hand over the maintenance information
Provide the panel layout, identification system, approved fixing information and agreed removal or handling procedure. Explain which panels provide access to inspection points and where replacement-panel details are recorded. Keep the required inspection and material documents with the handover package.
Close the outstanding items
Use a location-based punch list with photographs, responsible party and completion record. Handover should distinguish inspected items from unresolved exceptions. For the design inputs that precede these checks, read drainage, traffic and access planning. Send a marked drawing with any replacement panel enquiry.
