A serrated grating surface needs an operating and maintenance plan suited to its location. Selecting a textured surface does not remove the need to manage contamination or inspect the installed panels.
Identify what can accumulate
Describe the likely water, process residue, oil, dust or debris in the area. Ask the site team to define appropriate inspection and cleaning arrangements for those conditions and the selected material and finish.
Plan access for cleaning
Identify areas that are difficult to reach, panels that may need removal and any services below the floor. Coordinate the approved removal and reinstatement procedure with the fixing arrangement. Cleaning access should be considered before equipment blocks it.
Include condition checks
- Accumulated contamination or obstructed openings.
- Visible surface damage or abnormal wear.
- Loose or missing components identified by the inspection procedure.
- Damage to the required finish.
- Changes in the area’s use or exposure.
Keep a location-based record
Record the panel or area, observation, action and completion date. Escalate a damaged panel or changed operating condition for the appropriate review rather than assuming cleaning alone resolves every issue.
Use the surface specification checklist to identify the product originally approved. For replacement supply, refer to the replacement quotation checklist.
